Description
On 12 August 2014, German manufacturer of turbo machines MAN Diesel & Turbo announced its plan to cut 126 jobs in Oberhausen within the next two years. The management excluded operational dismissals and wants to implement the job reduction on a voluntary basis by early and partial retirement as well as severance payment. Currently, the company employs around 2,000 people.
MAN Diesel & Turbo suffers from the weak order situation resulting from Germany’s exit from nuclear and fossil-fuel energy, declining investments and tough competition. The works council was displeased and complained that the decision was made without consulting the works council.
