Description
As announced on 22 July 2014, DB Regio Südost is to cut 220 jobs. The job reduction measure will start in January 2015 and shall be implemented in three stages by January 2017. Employees will be offered alternative positions at Deutsche Bahn in other regions. Job cutting is due to a continuing decrease of railway kilometers covered by DB Regio Südost in the federal states of Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and Thuringia.
DB Regio Südost currently employs 3,100 people in total. The job reduction will affect 500 employees working in the company’s administration department. According to the company’s CEO, DB Regio Südost intends to cut 900 jobs in total until 2017.
