Description
The parent company of La Senza UK and Pinkerry, Marnixheath Limited, was put into administration on 1 July 2014. While the administrators are trying to find buyers for the stores, closure of twelve La Senza stores will result in the loss of 130 jobs.
Prior to going into administration, the parent company Marnixheath had fifty five La Senza franchises and three Pinkberry outlets located in England, Scotland and Wales, employing a total of 752 workers.
This is the second time La Senza has been put into administration. In 2012, more than 80 stores were closed despite being rescued from administration by a division of Kuwaiti retail company Alshaya. The UK operations are separate from La Senza outlets located in North America and elsewhere, which are not impacted by this announcement.
As reported previously, six other La Senza stores had already closed, bringing the total number of closures to date to eighteen.
Updated, 06/09/2014: Administrators were unable to find a buyer and cease trading in the UK, with the loss of 752 jobs. There were a total of 55 stores, 30 of which had already closed. The remaining 25 stores will close in the next few weeks.
