European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The company Global Energy Services (GES), specialised in construction and maintenance services within the wind and solar energy industry, has applied for a redundancy plan affecting 627 employees in Spain. According to the source, the company will close all the local branches in Spain except the central offices located in Bilbao. The distribution of the dismissals in the cities may be as follows: Madrid (219), Coruña (61), Zaragoza (46), Bilbao (38), Cádiz (20), Valladolid (19), Valencia (19), León (10), Albacete (8), Tarragona (7) and Huelva (6). Besides, the subsidiary company Siemsa Industria will dismiss 131 employees.
The union CCOO rejects the measure. They have denounces that two weeks before presenting the redundancy plan, the company was hiring new staff.

The management of Global Energy Services (GES) and the unions CCOO and UGT have signed an agreement that reduces the number of dismissals from 627 to 290. The agreement has been ratified by all the workers in a referendum. The agreement achieved contemplates also an increase of the severance pay from 20 days to 31 days per year worked without any limitation in terms of months.
