Description

French garden and pet products specialist Jardiland is to cut 230 jobs. Jardiland was recently acquired by the investment firm L-Gamand. In 2012 and 2013 the group was facing operational issues, low demand in the framework of adverse weather conditions and a difficult economic environment. According to the sources the new owners decided a cost-saving plan affecting the HQ’s workforce and a social plan was proposed envisaging 170 job cuts. In detail the plan envisages the merger of the five offices of the central purchase department into one single site in Joinville-le -Pont (Val-de-Marne) and the closure of an office in Angers (20 employees). Current negotiations with the union aim to reduce the number of forced dismissals. The group announced also the closure of two tree and plant nurseries in Brou (Eure-et-Loire) and Blagon (Gironde) with a total of 60 job cuts. Jardiland anounced also plans to sell two other nurseries in Saint-Barthélémy-d'Anjou (90 permanent employees) and Bergerac (Dordogne, 110 employees). If the plans fail, additional 200 jobs could be lost.
