Alstom Transport, part of the French international power and engineering firm Alstom, announced plans to cut 182 jobs at its headquarters in Saint-Ouen (Seine-Saint-Denis) in France. As reported, the cost saving measure is related to an internal reorganisation plan and is to affect administrative and support positions. The timeline for the restructuring is not yet available but the group expects to open a voluntary redundancy plan that would possibly end by the end of 2014. The same day, the group announced plans to cut 190 jobs in Barcelona (Spain).

The announced job reduction measure is additional to a European restructuring plan announced in 2013.  Alstom currently employs around 18,000 employees in France. An earlier round of dismissals in France was announced in November 2013 in the framework of the EU restructuring.

Updated, 30/04/2014: As reported, the social plan was suspended.
