Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Aalto University in Esbo in Finland has announced that it will cut 130 jobs. According to the source, the job reductions will affect service functions but not educational staff or researchers.
According to the source, the university has not received the funding it expected and the University aims to save €8.5 million by the end of 2015. The job cuts will also form part of a reorganisation plan which aims to improve the efficiency of the university's support services.
The University has begun negotiations with trade unions regarding its 1,600 employees.
