Description
Automotive supplier Federal Mogul has announced to its works council that it will close its plant at Chasseneuil-du-Poitou, where 241 jobs are to be cut by December 2014.
The management explained its decision with a decrease in demand for pistons from the French car industry due to the difficulties of the automotive market, the reduction of the number of pistons in new engines, and the transfer of demand from diesel to gasoline motors.
The union CGT denounced the decision.
The plant is the smallest in the EU to produce pistons for diesel motors.
