Description

Finnish wholesale and retail group Kesko is planning to close eight Anttila department stores which will lead to the loss of 210 jobs.

The closure of these shops is due to low profit levels. Kesko is also entering into negotiations with its other department stores and expects these negotiations to lead to a further reduction of 25 full-time employees.

The ERM has reported on previous restructuring events at Kesko in 2004, 20052007 and 2012.

Updated 2014/06/25: After concluding negotiations, Kesko has decided to close four department stores, reducing staff by 200.
