Description

Midwater drilling contractor Songa Offshore is recruiting 700 new employees for its semi-submersible rigs on the Norwegian continental shelf.

The expansion is mainly due to a major contract with Statoil for the delivery and operation of four new rigs. The rigs are being constructed in South Korea and will be delivered to Norway in late 2014 and early 2015.

The company has advertised the 700 new positions and has already received 4,000 applications. Interviews will start in April. The first group of new employees will be hired in time to follow the first rig from the shipyard in Korea in the fourth quarter of 2014. The recruitment process will be done in waves as the four new rigs are delivered, and a number of employees will also be recruited for new onshore positions.
