Description
US food processing company Heinz is to close the factory in Turnhout in Belgium with the loss of 195 jobs. According to media reports, the intention is to delocalise the production to the UK where labour costs are cheaper. The management blames the decision partly on the loss of a 40-year long contract with McDonald’s. From their side, trade unions will try to negotiate good layoffs conditions during the ‘Renault procedure’.
