Description
German steel group Dillinger Hütte (DH) is to cut 300 jobs in the near future. 150 temporary positions have already been cut this year. These 150 workers have been transferred to the sister company Saarstahl.
The job cuts are part of a major plan aimed at saving EUR 120-130 million in costs over 2014. Twenty per cent of these savings shall be made by cutting on labour costs.
As reported, the 300 job cuts will be implemented via the early retirement of workers born between 1949 and 1953. A collective agreement excludes forced dismissals.
