Description

Car manufacturer PSA Peugeot-Citroën is to cut 400 temporary jobs (out of 880) at its site in Poissy. According to the sources, the group announced the non renewal of the temporary contracts by March 2014 due to the low demands of the market. In addition, as reported the group announced its intention to optimise the production capacity of the Poissy site with the abolition of one of its two production lines, a measure that refers to 680 permanent staff. The proposed restructuring is to be implemented by January 2015 and the consultation process has already been initiated. In detail, the plan envisages the transfer of the production of Peugeot 208 to the current production line of Citroën C3 and DS3 and the possiible transfer of some activities to the corporate manufacturing site in Slovakia due to lower production costs. The proposed plan envisages 550 jobs to be transferred to the common production line and approx. 100 jobs to be cut by means of natural attrition and voluntary departures.
