Description

Cereals producer Kellogg's is to cut 140 jobs at its factory in Wrexham.

The company is due to enter negotiations with trade union Usdaw, which is hopeful that the job losses can be implemented via voluntary redundancies and an early retirement scheme.

Updated, 25/04/2014: It was reported that following the 90 day consultation process, the numbers of job losses at the factory had been reduced and that compulsory cuts will be avoided. Despite this, 105 hourly paid workers will still leave their jobs through a mix of early retirement and voluntary redundancy. Kellogg's has confirmed that 26 staff will be recruited to replace those who have not left as part of a redundancy package. Consultation is ongoing with permanent salaried employees and 20 further jobs could be affected.
