Description

Lufthansa Technik is to close its aero maintenance facility in Dublin, Lufthansa Technik Airmotive Ireland (LTAI), with the loss of 411 jobs. As reported, the company and unions involved attended an emergency Labour Court hearing - on the same day of the closure announcement - to discuss redundancy terms.

As announced, the plant has been in operation since 1980, but has experienced lately declining business and less international market opportunities.

The timeline is yet to be announced. According to media reports, the closure will take place by the end of June 2014 or sooner.

As reported, Ireland has applied for assistance from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF).
