Description
Pharmaceuticals company Pfizer is to cut 183 positions in France. This is to affect mainly pharmaceutical sales representatives, but also support functions linked to sales.
According to reports, the cuts will be implemented via the cut of 60 vacant positions and a voluntary departure scheme (including early retirement) for 123 staff. 96 workers have already agreed to leave the company. 27 staff refused and could be dismissed. There are 62 remaining vacancies that could be filled with workers affected by the restructuring, if they agree to relocate.
Furthermore, the company declared to hire 17 highly skilled workers.
The company is a subsidiary of US group Pfizer. The group is downsizing its workforce in France since a few years with two restructuring in 2011 (373 job cuts), 700 job cuts in 2009, and 500 cuts in 2008. Furthermore the group had sold its factory of Amboise (500 employees) in last summer.
