Portugal Telecom (PT) inaugurated its new data centre in Covilha on 23 September, offering 100 new jobs. Recruitment is primarily to aim skilled workers.
The new data centre is part of a large-scale investment by the company that is estimated to create 400 jobs directly and an additional 1,000 jobs indirectly. The further expansion of the centre would stretch over 2 to 3 years and be subject to market developments.
PT employs about 32,000 staff worldwide. In 2009, the company had announced an investment plan that involved the creation of 5,000 jobs in the country.
