Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Media group Centre France La Montage is to cut 318 jobs by 2014 and to create 60 new ones.
The restructuring is due to decreasing sales of newspapers and advertisement space, and the introduction of a new market strategy by the management.
Cuts are expected to save the company EUR 16 million in salaries. They are to affect the prepress, advertisement, editorial, sales, marketing, and the administrative unit. Furthermore, the printing unit in Orleans is to be closed down.
Newly hired staff is to support the company’s strategy to boost its on-line information services. The resulting net employment effect amounts to a decrease in staff by 258 workers.
Centre France La Montage publishes 15 regional and local newspapers in France. It employed 1,911 staff in the country as of 2012.
