Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Johnson Controls, global automotive components producer, has decided to end production of car seat covers in Roudnice nad Labem with the consequent loss of 1,635 job places and the closure of the plant. The restructuring measure begins immediately and is to be completed by the end of September 2014. The company is planning to open a new shop focusing on the production of car seat cover spare parts, which will create between 30 and 50 jobs. The firm intends to pay redundant workers compensation which should be higher than required under current Czech law.
