Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 8 July 2013, Kraków Local Government announced its plans to reduce employment in the local schools by 585 jobs (420 teachers and 165 other employees working in the education sector).
The employment reduction in education is due to the "baby bust" and the need to cut public expenditure (local government claims that the subsidies from the Ministry of National Education is not high enough). Therefore, Kraków Local Government is to implement a restructuring programme of local education, namely part of schools will be closed and some schools will be combined.
The Ministry of National Education and the Polish Teachers’ Union estimate that about 7,700 teachers will lose their jobs in 2013 across Poland.
