Description

The tourism group Globalia will apply for a redundancy procedure affecting 500 employees. Dismissals will affect employees in the travel agencies belonging to the companies Halcón Viajes and Ecuador. Between 130 and 150 travel agencies offices will be closed, most of them belonging to Halcón Viajes. The measure is due to a drop in the turnover equal to 10% during 2012 and 25% in 2011. Unions foresee that the redundancy procedure will start to be implemented in October 2013.

Updated 21-10-2013

Globalia has achieved an agreement with the unions on the redundancy procedure. Dismissals have been reduced to 418. 348 workers will be dismissed in Halcón Viajes and 70 in Viajes Ecuador.  Dismissed workers will receive a compensation equal to 30 days per year worked up to a maximum of 35,000eur (Halcón Viajes) and 37,000 (Viajes Ecuador) respectively.
