Information Technology multinational Hewlett Packard has announced that 280 staff are to be made redundant at its offices in Sandyford, Dublin, resulting in the closure of the site. It is reported that the job losses are related to a decision by client Barclaycard to relocate services closer to its customers in Portugal and Italy. In detail 220 job cuts refer to HP staff and the rest 60 ones in contracted employees.

Therefore, HP has stated that the multilingual support services it provides to Barclaycard will cease at the end of March 2014. As announced the company will consider the possibility of redeployment for some of the redundant employees. HP also employs approximately 3,000 staff in Leixlip, County Kildare and 800 in Galway.

For previous restructuring see HP-IE2012, HP-IE2010, HP-IE2009, HP-IE2008 and HP-IE2005.
