European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Portuguese textile group Manuel Gonçalves (TMG) is to cut 100 positions in Famalicão. The redundancies will affect mostly the units of spinning, weaving and dyeing. Last year the company had already dismissed 50 workers who were formerly employed at the same plant.
According to the union Sindicato Têxtil do Minho e Trás-os-Montes, the company has been struggling with lack of orders and intends to reduce its production in Famalicão.
