European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Shoe maker Galand announced mass dismissals in its factories in Snina and Bardejov. The Company is export-oriented and produces components for shoe manufacturers in the EU. The dismissals will affect 316 workers and are caused by drops in orders from customers. Key customers, mainly in Germany, Austria and Denmark, found now their suppliers in countries with lower labour costs, e.g. Romania, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
