Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Getinge Sterilization, a manufacturer of medical sterilization equipment, has announced that it is to let go 50 employees in Getinge, Sweden. The restructuring will affect 15 white-collar jobs and 35 blue-collar jobs. The reason for the decision is a decline in orders; the dismissals are made in an effort to improve efficiency. Getinge Sterilization currently has 368 employees. The company operates as a subsidiary of Getinge AB.
Negotiations with trade unions have been initiated and the restructuring is expected to be implemented within three months.
