Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
German automotive supplier ZF Friedrichshafen will create 1,000 jobs in Germany by the end of 2013. This is due to expected growth in turnover. In total, the company plans to hire 3,500 workers, so that total workforce will sum up to 80,000 in 2015.
In December 2012, ZF Friedrichshafen announced to create 4,500 jobs worldwide throughout the year (seeĀ ZF Friedrichshafen2012).
Update, September 2013: the company increased the number of jobs to be created. Having just opened a new site in the USA and due to the imminent opening of a site in China, a total of 5,000 jobs shall be created by the end of the year; 2,000 of them will be created in Germany.
