Description

German automotive supplier Fehrer will make 620 people redundant. Fehrer will end the production in Kitzingen (Bavaria), where 500 of the current 950 people will be made redundant. The research and development section and parts of the administration will remain at this site. Additionally, the Leipzig site will be closed and 120 jobs will be cut. Simultaneously, production in Wackersdorf (Bavaia) and Braunschweig (Lower Saxony) will be expanded. Worker representatives announced resistance against the company’s plans. The restructuring shall be completed by the end of 2014.

Updated, 15/01/2014: In January, Fehrer announced to cut only 180 jobs in Kitzingen. 

Updated, 28/04/2014: As announced the final job cuts in Kitzingen are 60.
