Description
Finnish air carrier Finnair has announced plans to reduce up to 310 of its approximately 900 technical service employees. The company has started negotiations with employee representatives on the proposed cuts. According to Finnair the proposed 310 redundancies in technical operations result from decisions to reduce its fleet and to stop providing maintenance services to other companies. Finnair's unions have criticized the proposed lay-offs. Following company announcement approximately 1,000 employees participated in a one-day walkout. The company has announced the possibility of re-employment measures with the support of Finnair’s Career Gate service.
The timeline for the restructuring plans is not yet available.
