Description

Danske Bank has announced 170-195redundancies in Finland by the end of 2013. The company has started negotiations with employee representatives on the cuts. Danske Bank's Finnish subsidiary, which was until recently known as Sampo Pankki, had approx. 2,800 employees by the end of 2012. The company states that further redundancies are necessary due to the expansion of the electronic customer services provided and expresses desire to minimize outright dismissals and rather use other ways to reduce staff. Union representatives have criticized Danske's plans and noted that the job cuts cannot be justified by financial results.

Updated 19/06/2013 Danske Bank has concluded negotiations and confirmed 186 redundancies. Most will take place through resignation or retirement, but 15 employees will be dismissed.
