European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Vodafone has announced its plans to cut 700 jobs in Italy (out of 7,700). The procedures for collective dismissals started on 11 March. The job-cuts will mainly affect the technical and commercial areas. From a geographical point of view, the mostly affected territories are Milan and Rome metropolitan areas.
According to the company, the reorganisation plan is due to the negative effects of the economic crisis on the telecommunications sector. The trade unions criticised the company’s decision, announcing protest actions.
