Apoteket Produktion & Laboratorier (APL), manufacturer of extemporaneous pharmaceuticals, is to let go of 75 employees in Göteborg, Stockholm, Malmö and Umeå. The downsizing is an effort to improve profitability in a highly competitive market.
Negotiations with the unions are underway. As of March 2013, there is no information about when the employment adjustments will start taking effect or when they will be implemented by.
APL is one of the biggest manufacturers of special pharmaceuticals in Sweden. Since 2010, APL is a separate company owned by the Swedish state. Formerly, it was a company within the Apoteket group. It has four production facilities and is headquartered in Stockholm.
