Description

The municipally owned road construction company Oslo Vei was declared bankrupt on 7 December 2012. 165 employees received direct dismissals the following week. The bankruptcy was declared after a whistleblower warned about severe economic mismanagement, and the entire board of directors was dismissed after an investigation conducted by an accountancy firm.

Updated, 22/02/2013 The 12 employees at Huken quarry, a part of the company which produces asphalt and gravel, were told to continue their work on a temporary basis. Activity at Huken was finally suspended on 19 February 2013 after a decision by the Oslo municipal administration.

Updated, 12/06/2013 The decision for the suspension of the activities at Huken was overruled by the county governor in June 2013, and the trustees have now engaged a different company to resume production at Huken.
