Description
Cimpor - Cimentos de Portugal, the largest Portuguese cement manufacturer, announced that 150 employees will be made redundant. 90% of the redundancies will go ahead through early retirement.
The job losses are due to the unfavourable market condition, since there has been a decrease in cement sales by 70% between 2001 and 2012. In October 2012, 60 workers had to leave the company.
A member of the Cimpor’s works council said that this restructuring plan will mostly affect workers aged over 58 years old.
