Description
Groundcare, a supplier of cargo handling services, is to cut 220 jobs in the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Rome Ciampino. According to reports, 190 of the job cuts are related to services provided for Lufthansa.
According to the company, the job-cuts are attributed to the economic crisis and to the ever-increasing competition due to the deregulation of the sector.
In addition to the current job cuts, the company already applied to the Wage Guarantee Fund scheme for 380 workers last year. In Italy, Groundcare has around 1,200 employees.
