Description

On 22 January 2013, Hewlett-Packard (HP) announced a restructuring plan, which will result in the loss of 300 from a total of 5,000 currently employed.

Initially the company forecasted 520 job cuts. The management decided to reduce job cuts to maintain high-level of expertise of its workforce, to ensure continuity of quality service to customers and to anticipate an increase in demand. HP will open a voluntary departure plan through early retirement by 2014, to allow time for the departing workers to share their knowledge and train the new employees that will be recruited. HP has not released any details on possible job creation.

This restructuring will take place in the framework of a worldwide restructuring announced at the end of 2012, which includes up to 29,000 job cuts (see here).
