The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
According to information by the German newspaper Handelsblatt, Deutsche Telekom plans to cut 1,200 posts by 30 June of this year in an effort to save about 100 million Euro in annual costs.
The job cuts will streamline the so-called 'overhead' divisions administration, marketing and controlling, while stronger focus will be put on operative functions such as the installation and maintenance of IT-networks. The management says that this internal restructuring is considered to be a normal procedure in line with Telekom's target to reduce staff and to improve efficiency.
As announced previously, the company also plans to shed 1,300 job at its headquarters (see here).
