Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
AU Optronics, a Taiwan-based electronic company, which established its subsidiary in Slovakia in June 2011, is terminating the production of LCD monitors, with the consequent loss of 530 jobs.
The company will provide only repairing services for its customers. The company once employed 1300 people and provided indirectly work for another 2000 through delivery services and suppliers. Redundancies are caused by a decline in orders in the LCD market globally.
