Description
Dow Corning Corporation announced its intention to cut 500 jobs worldwide, 70 of which concern the unit in Belgium.
According to the management, the company's reason for restructuring is that the costs should be aligned with the current volatility of the economy. On the other side, the unions expressed their surprise following the announcement. The 'Renault procedure' on collective dismissals has been launched, during which the unions have stated their intention to negotiate in order to avoid forced dismissals.
Dow Corning specializes on the development and manufacture of silicon products.
