Description
On 18 November 2012, Texas Instruments France announced the closure of its plant in Villeneuve-Loubet (Alpes-Maritimes). Consequently, 517 out of 541 employees will be made redundant.
This restructuring is linked to a worldwide plan that is expected to affect 1700 employees working on mobile phone systems. The group wants to stop the manufacturing of SoC (system on chip) for smartphones and to focus on embedded systems for the automotive industry.
Update 03-01-2014 : According to a source, six months after the closure of the site, 70pc of former engineers have found a new job.
