Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Car manufacturer Vauxhall has announced plans to cut 117 jobs at its Luton van plant, starting from January 2013. The company will implement a single shift design, but will keep production at Luton as markets in mainland Europe decline. The affected staff will be offered severance pay, including early retirement.
