Description

Emhart Glass, manufacturer of glass for the container industry, announced they will let go of 160 employees as part of the production is moved to Malaysia. The reductions are distributed on 65 white-collar jobs and 95 blue-collar jobs.

Emhart Glass has around 260 employees in Sundsvall and will be maintaining high-technological parts of the production based at the current site. It is reported that the layoffs may have indirect effects on subcontractors and possibly result in more job losses for the region.

Worldwide Emhart Glass has 2,500 employees. The company is part of the Bucher group with 10,100 employees, mainly in the mechanical and vehicle engineering sector.

As of November 2012 there is no information about when the reductions will begin to take effect or when they will be implemented by.
