Description

As announced on November 12, 2012, German automotive and defence equipment supplier Rheinmetall will cut 200 jobs in Germany. This is reported to be due to low demand. Rheinmetall suffers from decreased government spending on defence and lower orders in the automobile sector.

Up to 60 employees in Kassel (Hesse) will be made redundant until the end of the year, 90 jobs in Kiel (Schleswig-Holstein) will be cut until 2014. The company’s site in Gersthofen (Bavaria) will be closed by the second half of 2012, but Rheinmetall aims to avoid forced redundancies.
