Description

As announced on October 19, 2012, French global telecommunications equipment cooperation Alcatel-Lucent will cut 530 jobs at its German affiliate. This is part of Alcatel’s global restructuring programme, which aims to cut about 5,500 jobs worldwide in an attempt to reduce costs (see here).

Alcatel-Lucent aims to reduce its costs by € 1.25 billion until the end of 2013. The company is reported to suffer from debt-cutting measures in Europe and growing competition from Asia.

In total, Alcatel employs 3,750 people in Germany.
