Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Swedish-Danish company AAK (AarhusKarlshamn), producer of vegetable oils and fats, has announced that it is to cut 55 jobs in Karlshamn. The decision is part of a rationalization program aimed at improving the company's productivity.
AAK's products are used in a wide variety of applications in the food, confectionery, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, chemical and animal feed industries. The company has production facilities located in Denmark, Mexico, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Sweden, Uruguay and the USA.
The Unions have criticized the decision on the downsizing.
The company currently has approximately 475 employees in Sweden. As of September 2012 it is not yet known when the measure will be implemented by.
