Description
Chipboard manufacturer Sonae Industria has closed its factory in Knowsley with the loss of 220 jobs.
The move follows the deaths of 3 workers on the site in the last 3 years, and a large fire that caused extensive damage in 2011.
The sites owners sought planning approval to remain on the site, and despite this being granted they indicated the time and expense of the planning process contributed to the closure of the factory.
