Description
Saarioinen, a privately-owned Finnish food manufacturer and wholesaler, has announced up to 225 redundancies. The company has started negotiations with employee representatives on the cuts.
The negotiations initiated by Saarioinen affect all personnel groups and may result in up to 165 cuts in production personnel and up to 60 cuts in office staff. The company notes that it is lagging behind its targets in meat products and prepared foods and needs to improve its competitiveness.
UPDATE 07-11-2012: Saarioinen has concluded negotiations and announced 164 lay-offs from five locations, 127 production and 37 office staff.
