Description
Sanoma, a Finnish media group, has announced up to 140 redundancies from its publishing business. The company has started negotiations with employee representatives on the cuts.
Sanoma's redundancies may impact 45 of 69 employees in Sanoma Kaupunkilehdet newspaper unit as well as in total 95 of 811 employees in two magazine units: Sanoma Magazines Finland and Sanoma Tekniikkajulkaisut. Sanoma Kaupunkilehdet will cease publishing the print version of the free Vartti newspaper in the capital area.
Sanoma is a large media group, which publishes the largest Finnish daily Helsingin Sanomat, for example. The company announces that it is reacting to the changes in the media business.
