Description
Dynapac Compaction Equipment, the manufacturer of compaction and paving equipment and subsidiary of Atlas Copco, has announced that it is to cut 83 blue-collar employees in Karlskrona.
The reasons for the reduction are low demand and the need to increase production efficiency. The company plans to produce on demand only and hence rationalize the setup for logistics and assembly at the factory site.
The Karlskrona based factory, which primarily manufactures soil and asphalt rollers, currently has 493 employees. The reduction measure is the second one this year, in March and May 47 jobs were cut. The reason for that decision was the introduction of a new way of production, which required fewer staff.
The company will negotiate the reductions with the unions. As the demand for machines is seasonal, the management will negotiate to have flexible working hours.
As of September 2012 there is no information on when the jobs reduction will start.
