Description
Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs has announced that it plans to recruit up to 1,000 more staff.
The organisation is seeking new workers to achieve a call centre industry standards of answering 90% of calls. There have been improvements in call response rates, however only 74% of calls were answers last year.
Unions have welcomed the news, saying it is vital investment in the public services.
The timeline for the recruitment process is yet to be announced.
