On 17 July 2012 Sanyo, manufacturer of solar panels, notified 400 of its employees in Dorog, Hungary, about their dismissal. The dismissals are to be implemented in the end of August 2012, which was also confirmed by a representative of the trade unions.
Sanyo opened its site in Dorog in 1999, first assembling air conditioners, mobile phones, hand-made batteries and rechargeable batteries. Today there are 1,100 employees, whose main activity is the production of solar panels.
